Growth hormone treatment adherence in prepubertal and pubertal children with different growth disorders.
BACKGROUND/AIMS Treatment of children with growth disorders with recombinant human growth hormone is necessary for improved outcomes, including final height. METHODS Adherence data from the Observational Study Saizen®-online, recorded with the easypod™ device collected between October 2009 and May 2011, were analyzed in pediatric patients receiving recombinant human growth hormone treatment f...
متن کاملGrowth and metabolic consequences of growth hormone treatment in prepubertal short normal children.
Growth and the metabolic effects of growth hormone were monitored in a randomised, controlled group of 41 short, normal, prepubertal children. The treated group received daily injections of growth hormone as Genotropin (Kabi Pharmacia) 30 IU/m2/week. Fifteen children in the treated group (21 children) have completed three years of treatment, have grown significantly more than 14 (of 20) untreat...
متن کاملEfficacy of Short-Term Growth Hormone Treatment in Prepubertal Children with Idiopathic Short Stature
PURPOSE It has been reported that daily recombinant human growth hormone (GH) treatment showed beneficial effects on growth in prepubertal children with idiopathic short stature (ISS). The present study aimed to validate the GH (Eutropin®) effect on growth promotion and safety after short-term GH treatment. MATERIALS AND METHODS This study was an open-label, multicenter, interventional study ...
متن کاملThe influence of exercise on growth hormone and testosterone in prepubertal and early-pubertal boys.
The purpose of this study was two fold a) to determine the levels of hormonal parameters which are related to growth and sexual maturation (T, SHBG, FAI, GH) in 66 pre-pubertal and early-pubertal boys (11-13 years old) who systematically engage in individual and team sports activities of endurance, strength, speed and skill, respectively, and b) to investigate the effect of two different forms ...
متن کاملDefective growth hormone secretion in children with pycnodysostosis and improved linear growth after growth hormone treatment.
Short stature is a characteristic feature of pycnodysostosis. We report defective growth hormone secretion in response to provocation and low insulin-like growth factor-I (IGF-I) concentration in five out of six patients with pycnodysostosis. Physiological replacement with growth hormone increased IGF-I concentration and improved linear growth in these children.
